Small Mercy for Windows — v1.0

Dr Tyson K··3 min read

Small Mercy for Windows is live. It’s the full desktop scribe — for the consult room and for telehealth — and it ends where every Small Mercy platform ends: only what was said, and nothing saved until you confirm.

Capture — in the room and over telehealth

  • Desktop capture for the consult room, straight from your Windows PC.
  • Telehealth — Small Mercy captures both sides of a Zoom or Teams consult, your voice and the patient’s kept clearly apart, so a remote consult gets the same honest note as an in-room one.

What you see as it listens

  • Near-live transcription — words stream as you speak.
  • Binary speaker attribution — Small Mercy tells your voice from the patient’s.
  • Uncertainty, surfaced rather than hidden:
    • “Not sure I heard this” — a dotted underline you can tap to listen back to that moment.
    • “Heard it, couldn’t place it” — a highlighted review block to re-read and settle.
    • [ not stated ] — anything absent from the conversation is marked explicitly, never invented.
  • Every drafted statement is grounded to the transcript.

Review, confirm, and the paperwork around it

  • The full review queue and draft run on the desktop: work through the flags, then confirm. Nothing is saved until you do — and on confirm, the audio is deleted and the patient can keep a QR deletion receipt.
  • Referrals and letters — RACGP-aware, on your letterhead.
  • Tasks — spoken follow-ups become dated action items, reviewed and confirmed like everything else.
  • MBS billing-item hints for Australian organisations — a read-only draft from the consult, with its reasoning shown. They are switched off everywhere else.

Note templates

Choose the shape that fits the consult: SOAP, Problem-based, Detailed history & exam, Mental health, GPCCMP, Health assessments, Antenatal and Procedure note.

Built for Australian practice

  • A roughly 2,900-drug PBS/AMH vocabulary recovers garbled medication names transparently — every correction shown and revertible.
  • MBS billing-item hints and RACGP-aware referrals and letters, throughout.

Privacy and security

  • On AU Sovereign, Small Mercy stores the clinical record in Sydney and runs default transcription and note drafting on vetted Australian services over private links — disclosed on every note under your organisation’s processing consent. Consent to record is separate for each consultation. Speaker identity is matched only on Small Mercy’s infrastructure. A Small Mercy-managed offshore route needs separate acceptance for that session and purpose. An optional confirmed-note or letter send reaches the connected practice-software account; Nookal’s Australian API host does not establish that account’s storage region. Small Mercy and its processing providers do not use clinical data to train models.
  • Deleted by default: audio is removed the moment you confirm, and abandoned drafts are swept within 7 days.
  • Encrypted with AES-256, with an append-only audit log recording every access.
  • Passkey sign-in — no password to phish.

How it fits with the rest of Small Mercy

One account covers every device. A note you draft on Windows is there in the web app, on Mac, on iPhone and Apple Watch, and on Android too. Notes leave Small Mercy as clean text and PDF. Australian and New Zealand organisations in Small Mercy’s AU cell can connect an Australian-hosted Cliniko account or use Nookal through its Australian API service; the other practice-software integrations are still on the roadmap.

Small Mercy is a documentation aid — the note, not the guess. It surfaces and drafts; you decide. It is not a diagnostic device.

Getting it

Get Small Mercy for Windows from the Microsoft Store. Australia and New Zealand are open for sign-up; United Kingdom access is invite-only; elsewhere, register interest rather than creating an Australian account.

Editor’s note, 5 September 2026: the United Kingdom service has since opened for public sign-up — sign up at uk.smallmercy.app. Individuals and two-seat practices start with 14 days free.

Internal benchmarks on synthetic Australian-accent clinical audio and public speech corpora. We publish our methodology — and we’d rather show you a flag than a wrong note.
