Small Mercy for Mac — v1.1.6

Dr Tyson K··7 min read

Version 1.1.6 brings your appointments closer to the consult, gives imported documents a clearer review, and makes the Mac recording window a little more settled.

Appointments where you need them

If your practice connects Cliniko or Nookal, the day’s appointments appear on the dashboard, in Capture and on the patient’s record. You can move between days and start a consultation straight from a booking.

Linking a booking to a Small Mercy patient now happens on the appointment row. The review dialog shows the practice-system preview, suggested matches and patient search, with a choice to link an existing patient or create a new one. Search tells you when there are more results than it can show, and an older request cannot replace a newer search.

An attached booking names the patient. Consult rows show the connected practice system, and a consult linked to both Cliniko and Nookal says so once. Cliniko appointment times also stay correct across daylight-saving changes.

Delivery and filing cards explain each step, including why Check is unavailable. A Nookal note left sending after a crash has a way out after 15 minutes, with an explanation; support can also resolve a write whose Check is permanently unavailable.

Reconnecting either practice system accepts a sign-in from the last ten minutes. Failed connections explain what happened and what to do. We’ve fixed stale patient-match suggestions, diary rows getting out of step after a patient link changes, and a note saying it needed a check after it had filed correctly. The integration settings use the full window width, only ask for another factor when needed, and keep notices beside the relevant action.

Without a Cliniko or Nookal connection, reviewing a consult recorded without a patient no longer invites you to choose a practice appointment. If a practice system is unavailable to you, the notice says why. A booking already attached to a consult remains visible.

Documents that are easier to read and check

Clinical-document key points use label/value pairs. Medicines and results have their own tables, without repeating the same point in both places.

There are seven composition choices: clinical handover summary, case summary, clinical timeline, medication summary, interval summary, health summary and discharge summary. Availability follows the existing profession and practice-country rules. Discharge headings say as documented: these compositions organise the source records and remain drafts for you to review.

Generating a composition runs in the background, so the app stays usable. The panel checks for completion and explains a failed request. A new composer starts with your first available template, and the text keeps a readable column beside its review rail as you resize the window. After confirmation, a composition can be exported as its own PDF; the chart PDF describes only what it actually contains.

Automatically read dates, categories, titles, authors and facilities remain unverified until you check the summary. Dismissing it clears those details. Failed checks and summary edits retain your text and show the server’s explanation.

Checks against only part of a long original say so. Shortened tables and cells are labelled, and omitted rows are no longer described as facts from the source. If automatic checks did not finish or ran in a reduced form, sign-off asks for an explicit acknowledgement.

Medication summaries no longer name a medicine absent from the document. When a medicine appears with different doses, the comparison quotes the source and offers you a choice instead of silently dropping one. Source comparisons also flag fewer passages incorrectly.

The uploaded-PDF pane and its text layer now stay inside their bounds, and the scan pane no longer renders blank in affected engines. Changing the Clinical documents setting takes effect immediately. Imports explain which records you are authorised to bring in, simultaneous edits cannot silently lose a change, and an older app gets a clear upload message instead of storing the wrong metadata.

Letters keep the version you reviewed

Confirming a letter seals the text, patient and recipient you actually reviewed. Printing, showing and filing it use that confirmed version, even if details change later.

An out-of-date edit or confirmation cannot overwrite a newer version. If a letter changed, was archived or moved to Trash elsewhere, Small Mercy shows the current version and explains why the action was refused.

Moving a confirmed letter to another patient asks you to review the move and re-seals it to that patient. Cliniko and Nookal filing states say whose record received the letter, and explain when an existing filing prevents the move.

Medication reconciliation has more precise Apply and Undo too. Undo affects the changed row; ceased-medication transitions, doses and regimens stay together; a stop takes precedence over a dose change; and observations keep their order. Ambiguous changes get an advisory card. Lists using both commas and semicolons are handled correctly.

A smoother recording window

Moving between Full, Puck and Panel now happens in one smooth motion. With Reduce Motion enabled in System Settings, the transition is instant.

A Puck or Panel dragged between displays stays where you drop it, including displays with different scaling. The compact size-button explanations fit on one readable line.

During telehealth, the live transcript labels speech from the room and the call. The review labels name each side once. Consults longer than about fourteen minutes now get the after-recording speaker separation already used for shorter consults, rather than retaining only the live labels.

After you stop a recording, Small Mercy retries final audio that has not yet reached the transcript. Replayed final results keep speech already stored from appearing twice. If recovery cannot complete, the recording is retained under its audio policy and the incomplete-transcript warning stays visible.

A detected empty transcription result gets one recovery pass on the same processing route. Recovered speech is marked for you to listen back; if it cannot be recovered, the incomplete warning remains.

Updates also load the current interface bundled with the Mac app reliably. The sign-in and sign-up welcomes say Made in Australia, then show the connected server’s wording about hosting. Recording and privacy screens explain processing and audio retention more plainly, without repeating a short processing label beside a sentence that already says it. While transcription has not begun, the training line says it will be confirmed when transcription begins.

Clearer practice and account settings

The organisation console adapts to your connected practice system. Overview highlights what needs attention; Integrations has its own page; Reports can filter audit entries by kind; Sessions can filter low-confidence flags; and policy changes have a history.

Owners can add an admin-only member without using a paid seat, or give up their own seat. The wider users table separates seats purchased from people with access. Invitations can be seen and revoked where they were sent, practice names appear when needed to distinguish them, and dates follow the practice’s clock.

Connection status reflects whether filing actually works. A stale voice enrolment says Re-enrol needed, its reset works, and moving practices no longer hides your consults or usage. Policy forms do not record changes you did not make. Companion Apple Watch start can be controlled from the organisation’s Account page.

Individual signups can begin a fourteen-day trial without a card. Billing and the dashboard read the current trial terms, and stay quiet about upgrading while the trial runs. The Mac subscription card recognises the trial and keeps the latest server answer after a purchase, restore or refund, including when a refresh needs retrying.

The smaller fixes

First-run cards complete one at a time, Letters guides you through letterhead setup, and empty Consultations, Letters, Meetings, Patients and Tasks lists offer a useful next step.

Help images load in the packaged app, prices are named for the correct store, and Mac App Store Help keeps sign-up and pricing links out of the purchase flow.

Sign-in keeps the selected region. Cancelling just as a browser sign-in is approved withdraws that one sign-in; if it cannot, Small Mercy points you to Account security. Reloading during a consult no longer leaves a recording stuck that blocks a new one.

Microphone errors describe what was established. An older re-speak attempt cannot disturb a new one, and a recording failure is only called a permission refusal when that is the cause. Timezone selection works in engines without the newer timezone-list API, the privacy overlay closes properly, and a page that fails after an update can recover.

Data-rights exports include the patient’s reachable records and use the native Mac Save panel. Account-deletion deadlines and cancellation states reflect the current request, with each deletion link keeping its own state.

Every generated note, letter, minutes item and task remains a draft until you review and explicitly confirm it.
