Small Mercy 1.1.4 for Android was released on 27 August 2026. This note covers the corrected update available that day: choosing your practice country, signing in, and getting into Small Mercy without having to wonder which service you are using.
A clearer first hello
On a fresh install, Small Mercy now asks for your practice country before sign-in. The welcome screen then keeps that country visible and gives you a clear way to change it.
That choice follows the whole sign-in path. Password links and passkeys use the Small Mercy service for that country, and the create-account option appears only when sign-up is available for the country you chose.
Australia and New Zealand remain distinct choices, even though both use Small Mercy’s Australian service. The app says which one you selected rather than leaving you to infer it.
Smoother sign-in
Password and passkey sign-in are more reliable in the Android app and on the Small Mercy website. Compatible password managers can offer the same saved credentials in both places, while passkeys follow the practice country you chose.
Android now feels like Small Mercy from the first screen
The welcome screen now uses the same warm bone colour, lighter paper texture, spacing and calmer hierarchy as iOS. The wording has been tightened too, with company provenance, hosting and processing kept as separate facts.
We also fixed a first-run crash that could occur after a clean reinstall when a country was selected. That fix is included in the 27 August release.
Clearer screens and everyday actions
This release also includes improvements prepared in the earlier 1.1.3 update:
- More legible system bars on Android 13 and 14 in dark mode, and clearer consultation controls on dark screens.
- Comfortable text and list widths on tablets and unfolded foldables.
- A clearer instruction when Small Mercy first asks for an authenticator code.
- Brief visual and haptic feedback when an action completes, with completed tasks hidden by default.
- Removal of the unactionable Voiceprint paused message.
- A fix for an account that could be refused recording after a Google Play purchase.
What has not changed
Recording, draft review and confirmation work as before. Every generated note, letter or task remains a draft until you review and confirm it.
A note on the version number
The previous public Android version was 1.1.2. Version 1.1.3 did not become a separate public release; its changes are included above in 1.1.4.
